HELLO! MASS is a new up-and-coming co-working space for indie game developers in Melbourne. Built by **Massive Monster** on the back of the success of **Cult of the Lamb**, with support from **Creative Victoria** & **VicScreen**. The space is design-led, purpose-built in collaboration with **Flack Studio**. We're opening our doors soon and looking for someone who can run the space, foster a community & be part of a soon-to-be globally recognised space.

## The Role

We are looking for a General Manager who believes in MASS's mission to be a place for creation, who can bring the local games community together & has a commercial mindset. The role will involve day-to-day operations, looking after members, and pursuing business development opportunities in the space.

You will be there from day one, helping establish a one-of-a-kind space. This is a unique opportunity to help design the space's operations from the ground up - the home for Melbourne's best game developers.

You will commence as the sole employee, with the support of company director Julian Wilton from Massive Monster. MASS is designed to offer affordable desks for residents, so it runs a lean operation. There may be space for additional support as the space fills and further revenue-generating opportunities are pursued.

## What You'll Actually Be Doing

### Community & Resident Experience

- Looking after residents' day-to-day needs - Someone who loves meeting new people and bringing people together.
- Creating & fostering a community through events, socials, and partnerships. You will bring the space alive and make it cool.
- Create and own processes from onboarding to offboarding of residents to ensure a great experience.
- Filling the space & keeping it full while thoughtfully building the right mix of residents.
- Balancing the day-to-day needs of the space while also being a Front-of-House presence.

### Events Management

- Handling external bookings for meeting rooms & events.
- Assist with event setup, packdown & logistics as required.

### Operations & Commerciality

- Keeping the day-to-day operations running smoothly, including facilities management, repairs, maintenance and more.
- Distribute and manage mail and courier deliveries.
- Promote MASS news and events through social media and newsletters, with support from the Massive Monster team for more original content (short form videos etc).
- Online community management through a Discord (or platform of choice).
- Making sure the website is kept up to date.
- Manage social channels for inbound messages.
- Oversee budget planning and keeping financial targets on track, reporting and discussing key findings with the support of the company director and accountant.
- Engaging with external stakeholders such as Government (VicScreen, Creative Victoria), partners, education, etc.

## Who Are You?

- You've got a great eye for detail and design - can keep MASS shining.
- You've run a space, a venue, a studio or a business before - You've worn all the hats.
- You've thrown and hosted events for communities before with an emphasis on experience.
- You're happy running the show while working with a director & other stakeholders.
- Are in creative industry circles and love connecting folks together.
- Can get into the numbers - making sure MASS is meeting its revenue goals.
- Can solve problems & put out fires without oversight.
- Handy on the tech side - can learn new software quickly and use it to streamline your workflow.

## Bonus Points

- A background in coworking spaces.
- Experienced in graphic design & art.
- Love interior design & architecture.
- A solid understanding of the games industry and the needs of developers, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Know the Melbourne Games scene.
- Live close to Collingwood.

- This is a full-time role with a requirement to be onsite at 120 Oxford Street, Collingwood.
- Remuneration on offer is $90,000-120,000 p.a. plus superannuation & incentives.
