ANNOUNCING - MASS: a co-working sanctuary for game devs by Massive Monster

Published Nov 27, 2025General

Melbourne-based studio Massive Monster, developers behind the hit indie game Cult of the Lamb, are excited to announce the launch of MASS, a new co-working space in Collingwood, Victoria.

Designed by game developers, for game developers, MASS is a place to not just work but to create, connect, and push the boundaries of creativity and play. Led by Massive Monster’s Creative Director Julian Wilton, and with support from VicScreen & Creative Victoria’s Digital Games Co-Working Space Project grant, MASS occupies 1100m2 of the historic Foy & Gibson complex in Collingwood’s vibrant creative precinct. The space will be fit-out by Flack Studio, with project management by Fontic Group, both Melbourne based companies, and will be a community-focused coworking space for game developers, offering state-of-the-art facilities, networking opportunities, and industry-specific resources at below-market price. MASS is a place of workship - where game developers are able to love, respect, and work towards something that means a lot to them.

Australia’s reputation for making hit indie games has only grown in recent years, with Melbourne at the forefront - yet the city lacks community efforts and co-working operations that are tailored to the unique needs of game development. The success of Cult of the Lamb, which has sold over 4.5 million units worldwide since its 2022 release, has placed Julian and Massive Monster in the position to be able to give back to the Australian games industry, and help highlight Melbourne as a global powerhouse for game development.

MASS will allow Melbourne-based game developers to not only affordably access necessary resources such as build servers, recording and streaming equipment, and the myriad other hardware required to make games, but also to build community. Studies show that co-location and a positive social environment, along with technical tools, facilitates collaboration among diverse professional backgrounds, and supports iterative development and refinement of games (source). By facilitating collaborative workspaces, industry-specific networking opportunities, and mentorships, MASS aims to equip, upskill, and support indie game devs to sustainably grow their practices and incubate their ideas. Active inclusion is also a core value of MASS, which involves a commitment to the amplification of historically underrepresented voices, and ensuring those voices have the resources and opportunities to thrive.

MASS has also enabled the launch of the Monster Fund, a new investment fund created by Massive Monster. This initiative will support Victoria-based developers in growing their games from prototype to launch. As part of the Monster Fund, recipients will gain access to the MASS co-working space and all the technical, networking, and skillsharing opportunities it offers.

Offering a range of membership options, from private offices to day passes suiting small game studios to individual devs, MASS will be opening its doors in early 2026. To stay up to date with MASS, sign up to the waitlist here.

MASS exists to remove any limits to the imagination by building and enabling a community of game developers who push creativity and play into unprecedented spaces. Through devotion to fearless innovation, unbridled creativity, and deep connection, MASS is a creative hub for those shaping the future of play.
